Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is a 2016 fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton, based on the novel by Ransom Riggs. The movie follows the story of Jacob "Jake" Portman, a teenager who discovers clues to a hidden world where children possess extraordinary abilities. After the mysterious death of his grandfather, Jake embarks on a journey to a remote island in Wales, where he stumbles upon Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, a time-looped sanctuary overseen by the enigmatic Miss Alma Peregrine.
Each child at the home has a unique "peculiarity," ranging from invisibility to controlling fire, and Miss Peregrine herself can transform into a bird. However, the home is under threat from monstrous creatures known as Hollowgasts, led by the sinister Mr. Barron. As Jake learns more about his own latent ability, he must protect the peculiar children from their looming enemies and preserve their time-looped refuge.
The film blends dark fantasy with Burton’s signature gothic style, featuring visually stunning sets, eerie atmosphere, and a heartwarming narrative about embracing one’s uniqueness.
